How to Throw an Amazing Pool Party: Serving Food and Drinks
Most of the party rules pertaining to serving food or drinks are not applicable to the pool party. Anything you do out in the heat and the sun requires a special approach. Here is what you can do.
- The Right Serving
Make sure you make the food serving special. Whatever your pool party theme is, it probably has something to do with a beach. That is why any beautiful drink decoration can do the trick. Straws, little umbrellas, and flowers can make even the simplest fruit punch look amazing.
- Ice is a Must
Ice is one of the most important things you must have at your pool party. Make sure you have at least 2 lbs. of ice for each guest at your party. If the event runs longer than 3 hours, add another half a pound for each hour in the sun. Your icemaker won’t manage such an amount of ice, so you have to start packing your freezer with ice cubes at least 10 days in advance.
- Keep it Neat
Make sure you have a place to stack all the dirty dishes and garage. This table should be located out of your guest’s sight. Otherwise, the décor of the beach party or a luau can be ruined.
- Outdoor Ice Chests
Outdoor ice chests are irreplaceable helpers for pool parties. They can keep the ice ready and the food cool while the party is going. You can stack them with ice cream and frozen berries for cocktails.
- Tableware
Make sure to stock up on paper plates and other unbreakable drink and tableware in order to keep the serving easy. Avoid paper plates that can be blown away by the wind.
