If you found yourself in a situation when you already want to go to sleep but the party is going strong, you need to come up with a way to end it. Most hosts feel embarrassed about saying goodbye to their guests regardless of the situation and end up being exhausted after they finally leave. Learning how to bid farewell to your dear guests when they stop being wanted is easy. Here are a few more tips.
- Just Say It
If the guests are not reacting to the subtle tips and suggestions, you have to say it outright. Come up to each guest, who failed to take your hint, and say something like “We have a big day coming up tomorrow and need to get a good night’s sleep” or “Thank you very much for your wonderful company but, unfortunately, we have to wrap it up”.
- Bring the Coats/Purses
If the guests are having a hard time leaving, you can help them by bringing their coats and purposes. Most of the time such a hint puts a quick end to a party. Sometimes the guests are too engrossed in a conversation, dancing or eating to notice subtle hints. That’s where the obvious coat bringing can help.
- Set a New Date
Another way to avoid upsetting the guests is to talk about the next time you want to meet. You can say something like “Too bad this party is coming to an end, but I’ll be very glad to meet with you next week” or “I guess it’s time to say goodbye but make sure to call me tomorrow!”. Such approach can make people feel as if you are happy about their presence and want to extend it.
