How to Dress for A Dinner Party, Part 1
Every man attends a dinner party at least once in his lifetime. Going crazy about what to wear is an integral part of the preparation process. No one wants to stand out of the crowd in jeans and t-shirt while everyone is wearing suits and vice versa. Dressing for each dinner party requires a smart and responsible approach. We would like to give you a few tips so you never spend too much time on choosing the attire again.
- Black Tie Dinner Party
If the invitation says that you are invited to a black tie dinner party, brace yourself for some serious preparations. You need to wear the most sophisticated attire, including a tuxedo, a bow tie, and a white tuxedo shirt. Don’t forget about the socks and shoes. Black tie dinner party implies black sox and black shoes. Simply said, everything you wear should be black except for the shirt.
- Black Tie Optional
If the invitation mentioned “Black tie optional”, the tuxedo can be replaced with a dark business suit. Even though you can don a dark blue suit, the black color is always preferable. When it comes to choosing a shirt, you have more room for maneuver.
Try to avoid patterned shirts. Go for solid colors, such as white or light blue. Pink can be a good choice as well. Choose brown or black shoes depending on the color of your suit. You can consider wearing a knit or cotton vest to complete the look.
- Dinner Party with Friends
The dinner party attire depends on how relaxed the atmosphere is with your friends. In order not to make a mistake, consider crease-free suit pants, a solid-colored shirt, and black or brown shoes. The tie is optional. This creates a formal-casual look, which is perfect for many occasions.
