What To Do When You Meet a Celebrity. Part 1
Many people dream about meeting a real celebrity. But once it does happen, many get lost. In the best case, they freeze in one place and can’t say a word. In the worst case, fans start asking stupid questions and taking stealth pictures. What can and can’t you do when you meet a celebrity?
DO: Ask for a photo
The best way to get a photo of a celebrity is to ask nicely. Trying to take a photo when a celebrity doesn’t want it is not just rude, it can get you into trouble. There have been cases when the celebrity security teams grab the mobile phones or cameras away from such fans and erase the memory.
DON’T: Take a stealth picture
Taking stealth pictures is outright rude, especially if you are at a convention or a cosplay, where photos might be prohibited.
DO: Plan What to Say
If you are on a lookout for a celebrity or planning to attend a convention, where you might get a chance to say a word or two to your favorite actor/writer/producer, plan your speech. You’ll only get a minute or less to talk, so make sure you don’t waste it.
DON’T: Ramble
Don’t start rambling about how much you love the person and how happy you are to see them. Celebrities hear these words million times a day. Don’t become just “another one of those crazy fans”.
DO: Remember your manners
Losing your head when you see your hero is common, but try to always remember your manners. Act politely, or don’t act at all.
DON’T: Touch
Celebrities have to meet hundreds and sometimes thousands of people every day. Shaking hands and hugging everyone is out of the question. Smile and say “hi”. It’s more than enough for a polite greeting.
