We continue giving you smart tips on how to keep your guests safe at the next outdoor party. When the summer comes and the sun is out, partying indoors seems impossible. Meanwhile, you have to consider plenty of outdoor hazards before throwing a party. As a host, you are responsible for the safety of your guests.
Tip # 5
When it’s summer out, even the clouds can’t keep the UV rays from reaching our skin. That’s why you should always have a sunscreen handy. Even if your guests refuse to put the sunscreen on, try to insist. You don’t want to end up treating sunburns. Pay special attention to the children. Make sure to offer a tent or other shady place for people to turn to when it’s scalding hot out. A heat stroke is one of the most common problems at outdoor parties.
Tip # 6
If the outdoor party involves swimming in the pool, your responsibility is even bigger. People who drink alcohol often overestimate their abilities, which can lead to a disaster on the water. Always provide floaties or safety jackets. Try to watch the people in the pool throughout the party. You can designate a friend to be a lifeguard for the day.
Tip #7
If you are having a barbecue or planning to make a bonfire, practice basic fire safety. Try to avoid any playing with fire in the night when some of your guests are under the influence of alcohol. Keep the children as far away from the fire as possible.
Tip # 8
Keep a cool head. If an emergency happens, you have to be the one to respond immediately. Always have a cell phone ready to dial an emergency number.
