We continue with a list of mistakes the party hosts tend to make. Weeks of planning can go awry if you make even a few mistakes, which are very easy to avoid.
Serving Warm Drinks
This is a huge mistake, especially if it is summer outside. The biggest problem many party hosts face is the lack of ice. You need to think about the ice at least a week in advance and start preparing ice cubes and stacking your freezer with them. Relying on the icemaker is a bad move. It can’t service a 5-hour party even with 10 guests. Make sure, your freezer contains plenty of ice.
- Trying New Recipes
Unless you are a cook with years of experience, trying a new recipe the day of the party or even the night before can turn to a disaster. Besides wasting plenty of food, you risk ending up with a pizza order. So it’s better to go with time-tested recipes. The same goes for complicated dishes that take hours to cook.
You could waste plenty of energy and get zilch in return. Go for the simple food, which is fast to prepare. If you want to impress your guests with your cooking talents, make sure to have a backup plan.
- Becoming a Cleaning Lady/Gentleman
Yes, spills happen at all parties. But you are not responsible for running like crazy to clean up after the guests. After all, you are not a cleaner. All your guests are perfectly capable of cleaning up after themselves. Having you rushing over at the slightest problem can make people feel uncomfortable. Make sure you have paper towels available for everyone to clean up after themselves without your assistance.
