How to Create a Perfect Party Menu, Part 2

A party menu is often the hardest part of the evening planning. We continue with the smart tips to help your planning go faster and easier.

  1. Don’t Cook Every Single Dish

Sounds strange? No, it sounds smart. Go all out with just one dish, preferably the main course, and then try to buy as much as you can at the store. Be it baked potatoes, French fries, salads, roast beef, or the like, you can always buy most of the ready-to-eat food at the nearest supermarket. Show your cooking talents with one dish and get some help for the rest.

  1. Stick to a Certain Theme

If you follow our advice and focus on the main dish, make sure to maintain the theme throughout the evening. If it’s Chinese, have some Chinese noodles and roasted vegetables to go with the main course.

The only thing you need to avoid is overusing a certain ingredient. If your soup contains chicken, think about beef for the main course. If you are serving lasagna, don’t have a pasta dish sitting beside it. This advice is good unless you are planning a theme party. If such is the case, try to stick to the theme.

  1. Always Make a List

When you sent out the invitations and receive the RSVPs, you need to make a list. Always write down all your thoughts about the dinner menu. Have the number of guests on top to help you determine the food quantities.

Have a column that lists the dishes to be cooked and the ready dishes to be purchased. Make another column with the list of the ingredients for the dishes you are cooking. Even if you have an exceptional memory, making a list can help you organize your thoughts and make the party preparations easier.
