Should You Bring a Date to A Wedding? Part 2
If you are not too savvy in the wedding etiquette, you must have a number of questions. One of them usually has to do with bringing a date. We continue helping you make the “date rule” clear.
- Don’t Have a Date and Your Friend is Busy, Go Alone
If you don’t have a date, it’s not embarrassing to come on your own. For the most part, weddings are fun. Instead of sitting home and watching old movies or mowing your lawn, you can enjoy a fun day out. Besides, you can always meet someone you like and make great acquaintances.
- Your Date Might Not Be Invited to Rehearsal Dinner
Rehearsal dinner and a wedding might seem like the same thing, but they are not. In some cases, you might be invited to the rehearsal dinner, while you date isn’t. Most of the time, only family and a couple of close friends are invited to such an event. If you are not sure about your date, ask the bride or groom in advance.
- You and Your Date Can Bring One Gift
The rule is simple. One invitation is equal to one gift. So even if you are bringing a friend, the two of you can buy just one wedding gift. If you are not sure what to buy since you don’t know the couple too well, you can always ask other guests if you could pitch in with them. In the worst case, there are always gift cards.
- Choose Your Wedding Date Carefully
You might be head over feet in love with the person you just met a couple days ago. However, it doesn’t mean the rest of your friends are. Think twice before taking a virtual stranger to a wedding. You never know what to expect.
